I came across this video recently. At first I thought it was a bit of a joke because it’s from a TV show. Then after doing some research, I found out it makes a lot of sense! The World map we’re all used to seeing does not represent actual areas.

Regardless of the motivation behind keeping it that way, it is technically distorted. Here is an example.
Greenland looks much larger than Australia on the traditional map.

Greenland’s Area: 2,166,086 km2
Australia’s Area: 7,617,930 km2
Australia is 3.5 times larger!
